rare south FL longnose gar - Paulpro - 04-16-2011 I caught the biggest gar fish I've ever seen, true RIVER MONSTER.15 pounds and a few ounces.49inches everglades L3 canal, boat ramp got closed down years ago. I always had a wierd feeling about that place.I saw a beaver in there walking in wooded area ,scared us, I heard the foot steps of something behind me.Florida gar caught 4 /13/11 I'm still waiting on the biologist, to confirm i'ts a FL gar. Aligator gars pack on the pounds. I could be wrong.. good luck, let us know how it goes. Re: [davetclown] new state record in FL - Paulpro - 07-23-2011 Man,you could make a hookless lure out of that beard..Mine was confirmed a Longnose gar,she was full of eggs too,Barron Moody,came to see it I thought it was a Record spotted gar,Aligator gar have a much wider head sort of like a gators,he even shook my hand as he thought it was a record spotted gar,turned out he shattered my dreams.First he said it was a longnose,and then changed his mind.The fish gained about 2 pounds in water after 4 days in icewater..
