I've caught a number of Trout on Crankbait. And usually random Crank Bait. For example:
I cleaned up one day on some good trout using a Perch Crank. Couldn't keep them off of it. Yet before I started using it I was using a Crank that actually looked like the fish they might see. Funny I was just goofing around driving the boat and threw it out there for fun.....Little did I know trout really must like perch.

Ive caught hundreds of trout on them. Rapala CD9 or CD7 jointed they all work great. [fishin]

Heck yeah, cranks are great with trout. I normally use a 3" floating, black/silver rapala in the creeks to catch browns and rainbows.
This seems most effective for me in winter and early spring. Once many of the major insect hatches start, the rapala doesn't seem as effective for me.
