drumking, Chickamauga, Crappie, 3/18/2011, By myself - FishNews - 03-21-2011 I had a fishing trip with M17Glock today, but his work called him in. Someone laid out of work and so David had to go fill in. I'll bet a dollar to a donut that the guy is on the lake. emoBig <br /><br />Then I called John Faulkner to see if he wanted to crappie fish with me, but he and wife were getting ready to head out to Florida for 2 or 3 days. emoBang I knew there wouldn't be any use calling Labman after he and Pete killed the Smallies at the Riverpark yesterday. He is ruined. Gator told me the other day that he was taking someone on Friday, so I didn't even bother calling him. Hal is probably upriver so far that he couldn't make it. Polo has his sons in and isn't fishing any this week. So, I decided to just go scouting and fish some places that have been productive in the past and try to stay away from all the people. I made a good choice.<br /><br />I just stayed for about 3+ hours, but I found some really good crappie. I caught my first TARP this year 14.5 inches long and weighed 1 lb and 15 ozs. Another one that was almost a TARP. It was 13.75 inches. I landed 13 crappie (4 throwbacks) 1 yellow bass, and 1 bluegill. You will see what I was using at the bottom of this report. I kept 4 crappie for dinner tonight. emoHungry <br /><br />Water is rapidly warming up with all this sunshine. Full moon tomorrow. I found water temps in Wolftever to be 59.6. It will be mid 60's by this afternoon. Other parts of the lake was up to 56.9 when I stopped fishing. I got tired of battling the wind. It wasn't too bad, but I already had my 4 keepers in the well, and decided to just quit. I know where to go next time out. emoBig emoGeezer
