Anglers Needed To Study Fatal Muskie Disease - DrownedDesertRat - 09-02-2003

LANSING, MI—Michigan fisheries officials are asking anglers for help in a project to learn more about Piscirickettsia salmonis, a fatal muskie pathogen recently discovered in Lake St. Clair.

On September 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., St. Clair anglers are encouraged to bring live muskies and northern pike to a holding tank at the Mt. Clemens Fisheries Research Station, located at the mouth of the Clinton River.

Officials hope to collect 20 muskies and pike with the disease's characteristic red lesions, as well as five healthy fish and five with live lampreys attached to them.

NICE CATCH DDR ! I DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS !

THERE GOING TO GET THE ONES THEY WANT PRETTY EASY , IF THE GUYS ARE WILLING TO GIVE UP THERE FISH . MAYBE THE CHARTER GUYS WILL , BUT I DONT THINK THE REGULAR GUY WILL .

IF YOU SAW A DEER WITH CWD AND SHOT IT AS THEY INSIST YOU DO , YOU ARE TO TAG IT WITH YOUR DEER LICENCE , YOU DO NOT RECIVE A REPLACEMENT LICENSE . PRETTY SURE THEY WOULD DO THE SAME TO THE FISHERMEN AS WELL .

SOME INCENTIVE TO PARTICAPATE , HUH ?

GREAT POST AND I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR THINKING ABOUT US OVER HERE , YOUR ALWAYS WELCOME AT MY CAMPFIRE ANYTIME !

Cool nights, hot days. That's what we've been havin' over here. We got more upper 80's weather here now. It's headin' yer way! Don't get yer hopes up yet.

I'd love to get out to Michigan and fish da waters wit ya. Not sure about ice fishing yet. Specially the way the waters were so iffy this past ice season.

Re: [lonehunter] Anglers Needed To Study Fatal Muskie Disease - DrownedDesertRat - 09-07-2003

LOL. Haven't made any progress with the boat. Wanna buy it?
Hehe.

I'm still considering keeping it. I don't have the stuff to fix it up properly nor the funds to actually get it fixed. So right now it's in the "buy, sell, trade, donate" section without a price. It's up for sale but I might keep it and slowly fix it up. Just found a motor that I can get cheap. [Tongue] Went to a wedding Friday evening and the first thing the brides dad said to me was, "Hey Joe, I still got the outboard if you want it."

Great guy! You'd love him. Kinda looks like Mr Clown actually.

GOOD DEAL ON THE MOTOR IF IT WORKS OUT , HECK THE GUY MIGHT HAVE OTHER STUFF AS WELL .

I HAVEN'T MET DAVE YET , BUT I MAY HAVE RUN INTO HIM BEFORE ICE FISHING ON ONE OF HIS LAKES .

I'm wondering if he still has the old boat. He just got a new one beginning of this year. I wouldn't mind the old one. It has a livewell and everything. Still in good shape and would be much easier for me to tow.
