I was going through my many rods that I have accumulated.. And I found one a garcia royal ambas
eur. 8600c graphite & glass casting type rod.. Made in the usa... I've googled it a little and what I found said it is rare and if I had the reel to go with it very valuable... Now I'm no excpert.. But I figure maby some one on here could give me some advice about it that may know a little about them...[signature]

Not real expensive. The reels go for around $18. to $50. And the rod has sold for maybe $100.
Garcia just isn't the same as the old days.

it is an old rod well over 20 years old... That's when I typed in the numbers it said it was from a 1983 batch... And when it pulled it up it said the rare antique rod was well sought after by enthusiasts.. I found the info at sportslinkup.com it said if it has the reel that was matched with the rod it is very valuable.. I'm just trying to find more info.. About it as they don't give much info.. I'm just trying to se if it's worth shining up and keeping around...

Understandable. Unfortunately "rare" sometimes merely means they didn't make many. From what I read, the reel is in more demand...too bad.
What I have come up with is like I said $24. and up to $250 WITH reel.
I say, if it feels good, use it.

well I found this out so far.. Which is kind of interesting when abu garcia was started they branched out to another well known company called mitchel there first ever product being the mitchel 300 which the sight I found said in perfect shape if you have a unmarked mitchel 300 meaning no A or B label but the plain mitchel 300 they are suppose to be valued at 150 bucks.. Any way.. Abu garcia started life out as just garcia.. From 79 to 85 they made the garcia royal ambas
eur first one being 79 and they still make the ambaseur they stoped the royal ambaseur in 85 when they had a name change from garcia to abu garcia.. At that same time via 1985 mitchel went solo untell the early 90's when they joind back up with abu garcia.. And the original royal ambaseurs are in the collectors value most of which that is sought by collectors are the reels... If found in a combo reel and rod being the royal they are said to have toped 800 dollers in auction.. Due to them being the finest and best quality rods ever made of there time.. And after reading all this I have decided to break out the polish wheel and shine up the rod and I'm going to atempt to find the original type reel and just hang it up as it is a one of a kind.... And would hate to see it broke...[signature]

With most collectibles, when you break out the polishing wheel, you destroy any collector value of the item.
