Freshwater Novice - aussieintexas - 01-07-2011 Gidday there well as you can see by my name i am an Australian living in Texas. I was a very avid saltwater fisherman in Australia, mainly surf, estuary and some deep sea fishing but i have never fished freshwater and really want to learn. I live in the Austin area of Texas and need some advice on where, when and how to fish here. My wife bought me a spinning reel and rod for Christmas along with some getting started lures, hooks etc. My issue is i have no idea on whether its best to bottom fish, lure fish float fish, baits places to go etc. I will be land based as i dont have a boat but any information would be great. Lets start with Catfish, what would be the best way for me to catch them and do i need real bait, live bait, lures, floats, anything anyone can help me with would be greatly appreciated as i am really keen to wet a line again.
