Winterizing small OB motors?? - BADFISH - 12-05-2010 I have a 2-stroke 9.9HP outboard does have fwd, rev, and neut on it with tiller steering and throttle. what needs to be done about winterizing a small motor such as this? besides making sure I have stabil in my fuel and the tank is empty so I get fresh gas in it in the spring. any help/advice is appreciated. Re: [BADFISH] Winterizing small OB motors?? - NatefromOgden - 12-05-2010 The recommendations usually include running the motor and spraying fogging oil into the intake until the exhaust smokes real good, then turning off the water and letting the motor hang straight up and down so all the water in the engine drains out. You can get the fogging oil at most marine stores. I prefer leaving my fuel tanks on my seasonal gear full with Stabil added instead of empty. This keeps moisture, and the possibility of rust out of the tank. Make sure to have Stabil in the fuel you run the motor with so the carb, fuel pump and lines are treated.
