And like most fly tiers, you probably didn’t realize that this $2 tool easily converts into a nearly weightless [url "http://hatchesmagazine.com/blogs/Hatches/tag/fly-tying/"]fly tying[/url] vise. Simply unscrew the collet, remove the blade, insert your hook, and tighten the collet. A standard X-ACTO knife should hold hook sizes between a #6 and #20 with minimal to no hook slippage. Id find it hard to hold it and tie at the same time.. but if you could brace it sufficiently it would be a good idea for a quick fly or two.. If we are going for a couple of days, I take all my gear as it is in a rolling Stanley for shows and I just use my Vosseler with a suction cup base. Sometimes have to use a plate for it, but windshield, countertop...etc. works too. Depends on how many I am tying. [signature]
