South fork (snake) - jimpete525 - 09-19-2010 Today was the slowest day on the river I have had in a long time . Did the normal float and used the normal gear & we only boated 10 fish . One nice thing we had a new fishing partner my buddies 70 year old mom. She did not do a lot of fishing & did not catch any fish but I think she had a good time. She took a lot of pictures of the eagles we sure did not get any fish worth a picture . I think she was getting a little discouraged when she would lose one of her son's $7.00 rapala. We will be back on the river bright and early tomorrow to see if I can put a few more fish in the boat. Very cool![/quote] agreed some of the best times on the river are end of September or October with all the scenery you almost dont need to catch fish to go home feeling satisfied. [signature] Re: [MMDon] South fork (snake) - jimpete525 - 09-20-2010 To bad about the wind.There was no wind today on our float until around 12:30 1:00 and it was not to bad pretty much a picture perfect day.. The fishing how ever was much better than yesterday. We boated around 35- 40 fish. I got the biggest a 21" fat cutt. Will be back this coming weekend. Jim [signature] Re: [jimpete525] South fork (snake) - Bmarsh - 09-20-2010 Fished it for an hour before dark fri ( 17th) below the heise bridge and landed 5 in an hour, all on Adams, lots of fish started feeding on the surface right before dark and for about 45min after. Sat night we did the byington up river run at 5 and the fishing has slowed quite a bit in comparison to a few weeks ago. Still managed a dozen fish chucking drys. All on 20 BWOs. Ole man started chucking raps and yanked a couple of nice browns off of riffles. The brown fishing should start picking up. Time to dig out the big streamers and relearn how to chuck and duck. Also watch the water levels, they dropped it on fri, it generaly makes the fishing slow for atleast a day or 2 after. In the next month it will drop pretty regular if they run it similar to past years. [signature] Re: [Bmarsh] South fork (snake) - packfish - 09-28-2010 It was very good last weekend (9/24 to 9/26. Ran up from Wolf and floated back down from Fullmer. Ran up from Menan Buttes to just below Lorenzo and floated back. Pink Albert is coming off- but the BWO's seem to need a little cooler weather or the river dropping again. Did very well on Pink Alberts trailed by a CDC emerger or just fishing the mising link caddis. [signature]
