I thought Arkansas was a trout fishing state? - 5282jt - 09-18-2010
I never read anything about flyfishing for trout in Arkansas? Is the trout fishing poor?
My wife's dad was born in some small town just north of Little Rock and she's trying to talk me into taking her there next September [ last week of the month - I want to get away from this Florida heat for a week! ]
But, I don't take trips anywhere that I can't get some decent trout fishing in!
I don't use bait or marshmellows! :-)
Any advice?

yes, Arkansas is a great trout fishing state. In the Northwest Ozark mountain range the trout fishing is world class. The Ozark Highlands and the White river produce world record size trout.
So you are correct that Arkansas is a great trout fishing state.

It seems that Tennessee, NC, even Georgia trout fishing sites abound, but I have not found a lot about Arkansas.
Can you recommend a good town to stay in with a few trout fishing spots nearby?
My wife will be wanting some "tourist trap" style shopping at little shops, if you can suggest such places as well?

I would suggest the Ozarks, it is one of the most beautiful and scenic areas in Arkansas and has some of the best trout fishing in the Mid-South.
