brownlee - powder river arm, saturday - crappyslayer - 09-13-2010 Fished browned, powder river ARM on saturday. Fished about 5 hrs and caught 3 crappy (trolling rapalas). Tried jigs, worms, shallow, deep, bobbers, even put jigs tipped with worm right where the fish were, using a downrigger. Fish just are not eating. Hit the shoreline for bass, but the tiny bass hit so soft, you could not hook them. Saw 6 other boats and they weren't catching much either. Last year between CJ and browned, I boated well over 1000 fish. This year, barely a dozen. Windriver [signature] Re: [windriver] brownlee - powder river arm, saturday - crappyslayer - 09-14-2010 I'm fishing almost every weekend for something. Recently started trying to trap crawdads too. I generally fly fish the middle fork of the boise (without wading) and I fish many of the local (and some out of state) reservoirs. Mike [signature] Re: [crappyslayer] brownlee - powder river arm, saturday - SteelheadOne - 09-26-2010 I fished Brownlee last weekend (9/18-9/20) for three days, stayed within a couple miles of the Powder R. arm the whole time. Fishing was OK, 10-15 smallies a day, but nothing over 2 lbs the whole time, mostly 8-10" fish. Quality and number of fish have been declining significantly over the past few years, used to get into lots of 2-3 lb fish, always caught crappie and cats by accident, too, but not one this year. Anyone else noticing this? I go the same weekend every year (opening weekend of chukkar), so I think there's just fewer big fish, or they've moved elsewhere in the reservoir. It has been that way at CJ strike as well. Over the past 5 years at CJ and browned, I've averaged over 100 fish per trip. This year I haven't even caught a dozen out of all my trips. I've talked to friends who have the same story. Just a weird year for fishing [signature] |
