When it gets colder, do catfish frenzy to prepare for winter, or do they starting slowing down immediately?

Well where im from there usally shallow bulking up in fall and they usally head out to the deeper holes in winter but anglers have been known to catch em all year round.

Thanks for the advice. I live near Chicago- sporadic snowfall in winter, but -40 in windchill. Not much do in a dry winter, so I want to know how long it I can keep fishing without having to suit up for ice fishing.

True, the pike are great. But my goal right now is to get better at catfishing. I've already gone through my pike (and Muskie) phase.

It's fairly simple that when you master forms of fishing you go to more challenging fish.
