Delta Stripers - deadmansrum - 09-08-2010

I am new to the delta area (Isleton), and need some information on striper fishing. What lb test do you guys use for bait fishing and what bait ? Where are the best area's to hook up with stripers ? Any info would help ! Thanks guys. Greg

I fish for stripers quite a bit, but I don't know your area. I use 25lb braid for my rods with sluggo type plastics. Poppers in the morning before sunrise and then if I can find bait, I'll snag a few and live line them. I've used frozen bait as well, but it doesn't work well for me. Eels work well here in the NE as well. When the spring run is on we've hit them with trolling plugs in blue or chartruse colors. FISH ROCKS, thats where you'll find them. Could be a point or breakwater. Before daylight they will sometimes cruise the beaches looking for food.

Awesome information ! Although we are in different areas, I'm sure some of these tactics will work ! Havin a striper hit a top water lure would be really fun !
