Need a good rod and reel for stripers and blues - LincolnLogs07 - 08-10-2010

I'm starting to get into saltwater fishing for stripers and blues and I need to buy a rod and reel for cheap. I've been looking around at Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas for a good combo that will be reliable and I think I've found a combo that looks good. This one: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp;jsessionid=Y50HEWDDWQGYBLAQBBICCO3MCAEFCIWE?id=0032016120027a&navCount=4&podId=0032016&parentId=cat601988&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20166-cat601988&catalogCode=UK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601988&hasJS=true&_requestid=99368. There are so many different options though, could someone help me pick out the rod size and action so I can order it? I will be fishing from both a boat and shore at times. Thank you for the help.

If it was me, I'd go for the ss-65 for a reel. Not a fan of two piece rods, but I'd pick the WSSM 70-2. Some 25lb braid and your ready to go.

I have one of those reels and it works great for me. The only difference is min has the bait runner on it. You dont really need that i guess but it is a cool option. Dont know much about those rods but i heard they have a good rep, so i would think it would serve you well.
