Lucky Peak Bassin' - Bassnbob - 08-06-2010 Went up to Lucky Peak this morning. Launched at 6:00 AM and was off at noon. We caught a few bass. I managed to catch a couple of nice ones. I had a limit of 5 that probably weighed 8+. Pretty much over by 10 AM. Wife caught two and her friend caught one. I was using a black and blue Bitsy jig with a cinnamon teal, purple and black flake twin tail grub. WIfe was using a watermelon red Smallie Beaver and her friend, a midnite blue tube bait. Pic is my big one. 2+ lbs. I went out in my Kayak on Monday. It was almost noon before I got on the water because I had to take care of my son and then drop him off with a sitter. That must have been my problem, because I caught NOTHING. I did, however, decide that I was never going to Kayak on Lucky Peak again during summer. I thought a weekday would be ok. A kayak on a weekend would almost be suicidal. [signature] Re: [Bassnbob] Lucky Peak Bassin' - forgiven - 08-06-2010 Not to shabby Bob! You probably want to get off LP Early anyway before the ski-boat hatch.................... ![]() [signature] Re: [Bassnbob] Lucky Peak Bassin' - windriver - 08-07-2010 You are lucky. The nearest place that we can regulary catch bass that big is an hour and a half away at best. [signature] Re: [ditchbanker] Lucky Peak Bassin' - Bassnbob - 08-07-2010 I agree! We had the lake pretty much to ourselves until about 9 AM and then all the water weenies started to show up. I will never fish it on a weekend. We fished a tourney up there in July '08 on a Saturday and it cost me my trolling motor. A wakeboard boat cut right in front of us while we were running about 40 and I couldn't get shut down fast enough and when we hit the wake, the trolling motor head broke off. At least insurance paid for most of my new one. I didn't try topwater but did think about a jerk bait but didn't try that either. [signature] Re: [Bassnbob] Lucky Peak Bassin' - Aluma165 - 08-07-2010 Last week we took a break from koke trolling. We pulled into a small cove with a big tree hanging over the water above S.S. and my grandson caught a grasshopper on the shore. He baited a small hook and nailed a smallmouth immediately. Probably 1 1/2lb. to 1 3/4lb. There were a number of smallies in that cove along with a few crawdads. Personally, I haven't seen any larger bass... all under 3lbs. Anyone ever caught a bigger one out of L.P.? [signature] Re: [Bassnbob] Lucky Peak Bassin' - forgiven - 08-07-2010 [quote Bassnbob]I agree! [signature] Re: [Bassnbob] Lucky Peak Bassin' - hulapopper - 08-07-2010 wow thanks for the pictures. that was very kind of you. looks like quite the bait ! i really like l.p. for bass have done well over the years. the biggest was a 21" my dad caught on a 3/4 oz chartreuse spinnerbait that he had been using at owyhee the previous weekend and just casted it out under the bridge to get a backlash out to retie to a crankbait and when he reeled in the slack he had the big smallie swimming off with it. and i have caught as many 3 lb smallies here as anywhere else i have fished. lots of nice bass ! plus i enjoy catching the squawfish as well. some are up to 6 lbs.
