Inflating Tube - eDUBz - 08-03-2010 Some already know I just bought my tube (fish cat 4) and was wondering when inflating how stiff does it need to be? or should be... I don't want to under or over inflate. [signature] Re: [eDUBz] Inflating Tube - peter805 - 08-03-2010 If you don't have a gauge........make it firm but not rock hard. You will get it after couple of times. Also remember that air will expand a lot when the tube is on full sun so you may have to let some air out in mid day. Also elevation makes a big difference. You will figure it out as you go, no worries. Hope this helps. Peter [signature] Re: [peter805] Inflating Tube - eDUBz - 08-03-2010 Cool thank's for the info. I took it out for a test run yesterday and i think it was under inflated. I will try it out again today thank's again. When Im tubing in Sierras the water is sometimes very cold. I would pump up my tube, put it in water, tube for some time and guess what- need more air. So I just get to shore and put few more pumps in it and Im good to go. Then the sun comes up and guess what- need to let some air out. I just squeez the "nose'' of the tube and I know what it needs. You will know as well after few times out. Peter [signature] Re: [peter805] Inflating Tube - flygoddess - 08-03-2010 Dang, I don't recall ever doing all that...hummmmm. I just inflate launch and good for the day. Are they really that sensitive? Both times I didn't carry a pump and I was sorry both times. If I fill it early in the day I never have a problem. I try to keep mine so that I can squeeze it and it will give a little bit. When the water cools and the air cools more the tube will sag a bit. Ron [signature] Re: [idahoron] Inflating Tube - eDUBz - 08-04-2010 Thank's for all the info. Just got back from trying it out again inflated it a lil more than i did yester day and it feels great. I will be getting a small pump too, better safe than sorry.[ ][signature] |
