heartbreak on the henry's - prontotp - 07-07-2010 Floated with a friend on monday from Ora to vernon. Fishing was a little slow until around noon for us and then in a matter of 15 minutes we saw three 20"+ fish get caught by boats that were passing by and then I hooked into a big Brown that was over 20" I could not net before it broke off my fly. right after i broke off my friend hooked another brown that he fought for about 15 minutes. We tried to net it a few times but it would not fit into the net. i'll bet it was probably 26" at least and extremely fat. it finally threw his size 16 beadhead and disappeared. Even though we never landed any of the pigs we had a great time trying. there were a lot of people but most were courteous and we had a great time. Some days when things are slow I start keeping an LDR count.[laugh] I always count the strike and hookup as the most exciting part anyway. At least you have a witness to attest to your story. I was on the South Fork and hooked into a monster brown and it took off with about 50 yds of my line and just snapped it right off. Luckily my buddy was with me so when i tell the story i make sure he is around to let people know i am being honest. [signature] |
