I might head down to Magic Res on sunday and was wondering how the fishing has been. Is the highway from Carey to Picabo fixed? Hopefully we can catch some fish this time [

I'm not sure what you are after, but trolling for trout is good. Rapalas and pop-gear and weddingrings with worms should work.

], thanks for the info. I will have the wife and kids with me so any fish will be good fish. We will probably mainly troll for trout so sounds like we might have some luck. I hope to try around for some bass also, I heard the rocks on the east side is where I might have the best luck.

No clue on the bass. I have caught them in the past, in shallow water, but the water was warmer. I was fly fishing, and did well - but troller were hanging fish where we were fishing.

Had a great time at Magic today. We waited to see what the weather was going to do this morning so we got a late start, got on the water at about 1:00pm. We started catching fish right away. Nothing to big most between 14-16 inches.
The kids kept a few to give to an older fellow in the valley that doesn't do much fishing anymore. I lost one fish that might have been a really good one but he came off before he got to the boat.
We were using a wedding ring behind a beer can troller tipped with a bit of worm, with about 3 colors out. I caught a few on a firetiger trout killer.
I tried fishing for some bass next to the rocks as we trolled by but on the third cast got a rats nest in my casting reel that was terminal. I haven't quite figured the casting reel out yet.
I went to the east ramp today but wont do that again. I didn't like the narrow little road down to the ramp and it was a little too cramped around the ramp. I think the hot springs ramp will be my new ramp at Magic.

Hot springs ramp is nice, as long as there is enough water to access it. Later in the year, there may not be enough water. Keep that in mind for future trips.
