North Fork VS South Fork --- Snake River - REAL_RAT_FINK - 06-16-2010 I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is on this. Which river is the better river for fishing? It seem like everytime I fish the South Fork (Heise, Twin Bridges, Lorenzo) I can always catch a bunch of fish in the 10" - 16" range. Whenever I fish the North Fork (Fun Farm Bridge, Chester Dam, Ashton Reservoir, and farther North) I always catch a few fish, but they are ALWAYS big fish. I prefer the North Fork over the South Fork any day of the week. What do the rest of you think?[fishin] [signature] Re: [REAL_RAT_FINK] North Fork VS South Fork --- Snake River - iliketofish - 06-16-2010 I'll put in a vote for ol' Henry, But I've fished it more than the South Fork. And I agree with you I catch a lot more big fish on the Henry's Fork, not saying there's not monsters in the SF, I just can't seem to get them to come out and play [shocked] [signature] Re: [REAL_RAT_FINK] North Fork VS South Fork --- Snake River - sloppyjoe - 06-16-2010 I prefer the South Fork, but I think it is because I am not familiar with the North Fork. I will have to expand my horizons and hit the North Fork more. I have caught bigger fish on the south fork myself [signature] Re: [REAL_RAT_FINK] North Fork VS South Fork --- Snake River - windriver - 06-16-2010 It just depends what I want on that particular day. If I want willing cutts I go to the South Fork. A chance at big browns South Fork. Hard fighting rainbows North Fork. Stocker rainbows for kis North Fork. I have caught some big browns on the North Fork, but not in a while. I do know of some really big ones that have been caught there by other people. Truth be told I find the Teton as interesting as both of them. I also catch way bigger fish there as well. Some of the biggest fish I've caught in Idaho have been out of the North Fork. Try fishing from pali ![]() jim[fishin] [signature] Re: [REAL_RAT_FINK] North Fork VS South Fork --- Snake River - FishingRookie - 06-17-2010 I am really torn here but I will have to vote on the North Fork just because of shear size of fish i have caught there. I have pulled in some nice browns and cutts around 20" and over 2lbs on the north fork. But those are few and far between. I agree with everyone else on the fact that you can catch a lot of fish on the south fork and if you know where to go and have the right gear (ie boat) you can catch some monsters. But like I said I have caught my biggest fish on the good ol' Henry's fork. I guess i just need to get away from rexburg more and search the rivers further north and closer to pali ![]() [signature] Re: [FishingRookie] North Fork VS South Fork --- Snake River - REAL_RAT_FINK - 06-17-2010 I'm glad I'm not the only one who favors the North Fork! Interesting take on Teton River, I have been successful there as well, but I am probably going to take it more seriously once the waters drop a little bit. Plus the Teton Dam area is really beautiful, that's probably where I'll go next. I catch more consistently there and depending on the section the size is usually better. However when I do catch on the S. Fork they are almost all larger fish, but I don't think I really know it very well. I would love to learn the Teton though. I know next to nothing about fishing it and have only caught smaller fish there so far. [signature] |
