I am going to be in McCall several times this summer camping, and seeing as though this is the first year with my fishing boat I would love to go after the local lake trout. Seeing as though I have never attempted this, your tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. PM me if you would like to keep it lower key, my lips will be sealed!
I do have down riggers if this makes a difference.

I don't have downriggers but I've caught trout near the north beach - where the river enters the lake. I'd try that section out first.

For Macs, I would try drop shotting with large glow or white tubes and use really sharp hooksl like Trokars.
Make sure you use braid, and at the depths you will be fishing, mono stretches a lot.
