Causey - morefishinplz - 05-10-2010 I might have the wife convinced to go fishing with me in the morning since we both have the day off. I was thinking about heading up to causey seeing as how I've never been up there. So a couple questions for any late nighters or early birds. 1) Is ice off? 2) Can you launch a boat there? Are boats allowed? Is there any type of restriction on them (wakeless, certain HP or lower, etc.) ? 3) Any tips to help us catch fish? Thanks for any help anyone can give me on such short notice. (Thats why I'm hoping there are some late nighters and early birds that can help me seeing as we're gonna be leaving the house around 6:30-7ish) Mike (PS. I'm not really a new member but just got a new account. So don't feel obligated to welcome me) [signature] Re: [morefishinplz] Causey - Kent - 05-10-2010 Boats are allowed (couldn't find any restrictions in the Fishing Guidebook), but be aware that there isn't a boat ramp and one must carry the boat to the water. It is ice free and here is a recent report: [url "http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi?post=582604;search_string=Causey;#582604"]Link to report:[/url] [signature] Re: [morefishinplz] Causey - AFK2Fish - 05-10-2010 Page 34 in the 2010 proclamation states that, "[size 2][/size]Operating a boat above a wakeless speed is PROHIBITED on the following waters: • Causey Reservoir (Weber County) • Lost Creek (Morgan County) • Smith and Morehouse (Summit County) " [signature] Re: [morefishinplz] Causey - wiperhunter2 - 05-10-2010 If the water is muddy, try nightcrawlers or salmon eggs on the bottom or under a bobber. It the water is clear, try trolling with small spinners like mepps or panther marten, if you can get your boat on the lake. Hope this helps Mike and please let us know how you do. Got up and threw in a couple lines and no hits for like the first hour. Then I pick up, only problem was we couldn't set a hook to save our life. They were taking them strong and not just nibbling, it was driving us crazy. Finally something happened that we we're about to pull some out. My wife pulled out three and so did I. Nothing really to brag about just that we didn't get skunked. One my wife pulled had a couple scars down both sides which to me looks like a bird grabbed it and it got away but I'm not sure. Its the first picture if you look at it... Mike [signature] Re: [morefishinplz] Causey - Kent - 05-11-2010 Curious how difficult it would have been to get your boat on the water, had you taken it with you? [signature] Re: [kentofnsl] Causey - morefishinplz - 05-11-2010 The boats I have access too are light enough for two men to carry. I just didn't want to make my wife suffer and lug it over... Mike [signature] Re: [morefishinplz] Causey - wiperhunter2 - 05-11-2010 Usually during this time of the year the lake fills to the top and it makes launching easier off the face of the dam or on the south arm of the lake, by Causey estates. It looks like you were on the North arm by the Boy Scout camp? If you are into a little hiking, there is a good trail around the South arm that takes you to the back of the lake where the fishing can be better this time of the year. Right now the lake is full and you can park along the dam and throw your boat right in the lake. Visibility sucks and the lake is chocolate as it usually is this time of year. The planter rainbows usually hit spinners like mad right now. You troll them right behind the boat about 5 feet or less under the surface (No Wieght needed). If you take a boat, you can cruise into the back and there are TONS of fish stacked up. Drop a worm or a salmon egg and you can usually pull them out every drop. I usually get a good mix of tigers, rainbows, cutts, and splake back in the back. I'll be headed up next week, Good Luck! [signature] |
