Finally got me one - Wattie - 04-28-2010 Howdy guys, after reading the tips you gave me I decided to go give it a shot. If you are going to keep the fish use pliers and cut the spikes off. They are really bad on young ones, but tend to be wore down on the older ones. The above is a good way to grab or you can get a grapper for body or lip....both work good. All the flipping he does, if you hold tight, he shouldn't wrestle free. Caught a snapper on stinkbait once fishing the Fox River. Don't hold those by the lip. I also caught a softshell turtle fishing with worms for small cats on the Whapsy in Iowa. I also got a bullsnake in a crick near Rockford. Never caught a fish as pretty as yours though- nice job!
