If the eroding from all activities, including these bass tourneys, I bet all recreation on the resevoir will be shut down before we know it. High speed that Ive seen from these boats really wrecks havoc with the banks, not to say the pressure they have on other uses on this small resevoir while on the water. Good luck but hope all of ya think about the damage done there by the high speed wakes. I checked the Idaho Fish and Game website and no tournaments are scheduled for that date. Have the permits for this one been secured as required by Fish and Game? Just curious. I only have a float tube and I seldom go to Glendale because of the ski boats. Too bad they killed off Winder and Foster. The Idaho FIsh and Game has given there approval for the tournament. And I just hope you guys take into consideration what is happening on these small resevoirs. No need for the high speed take offs you all do for this one especially if others are on the lake too. Gives you guys a bad name and some deservedly so! [signature] Re: [gstott] Glendale Bass Fishing Tournament May 1st - windriver - 04-23-2010 I agree. I usually avoid Glendale because of the wakes etc... I would be interested to know how many of these teams come from Utah and how many from Idaho. I am interesed because three of the four tournaments are in Utah and one in Idaho and the BASS club is based in Utah. I am not saying they shouldn't come. I am sure the Idaho Fish & Game welcomes their license dollars, boat stickers etc... It just seems like a very small lake for a tournament. They are always behind in posting the information. This will be a small tournament probablly no more than 10-15 boats. The impact from the tournament will be negligable. In order to have tournaments we have to abide by all same laws and regulations as everyone else using the water. IF particpants are breaking the law(not obeying safe distances etc) and get a citation then they could be disqualified. As far as I know there aren't any speed limits on most of the lakes we have tourneys on. Your concern about wakes would be better directed to toward Wakeboarders and the boats that are designed to create large wakes. But Hey [ ![]() [signature] Re: [cachecustomlures] Glendale Bass Fishing Tournament May 1st - gstott - 04-23-2010 I agree, the wake boarders are what irritate me there. While a few bass boat owners may be disrespectful of others, pretty much all the ski boat owners could care less about keeping a safe distance. I hate that about Newton on the Utah side too. [signature] Re: [gstott] Glendale Bass Fishing Tournament May 1st - jigs - 04-24-2010 i agree its the wakeboarders, and skiers that have the boats that would damage the damn. i think most the bass boats sit higher in the water? so not to make a huge wake? im just glad someone is using this lake to fish. hopefuly the weather is mild enough to keep the big boats off so the bass boats can get around. [signature] Re: [cachecustomlures] Glendale Bass Fishing Tournament May 1st - duksnfish - 04-24-2010 I agree that i appreciate you taking the comments constructively, that is what my point has been. But, 10-15 boats of the bass boat size on this small lake can be an inpact and I totally agree on the wake boarders. Most have no respect for others. None of the lakes around SE Idaho have a speed limit but that shouldnt leave it so no one takes that into consideration. All I have been saying is we all need to take a look at all the lakes, especially the small ones in SE Idaho and keep the wakes and speed down. None of us need tickets and it would be hard to get on issued for speed/wakes anywhere. All I and im sure many others are asking is as a club, I would hope you get your members to recognize the issue with the wakes they make with the high speed take offs and speed along the banks and ask if they just slow it down a little. Take it all just a little at a time and it will help us all. [signature] Re: [duksnfish] Glendale Bass Fishing Tournament May 1st - prvrt - 04-24-2010 Just something to think about. A Bass boat running wide open only sits a few inches in the water and creates a small wake. A boat doing 15 mph will not be up on plane and will create a very large wake which is what the wake boarders do. When I am on my toon and boats slow down as they go by me, it actually makes the wakes worse due to the fact they are riding lower in the water which produces a larger wake. My jet boat is the same way. I create huge wakes up to about 18mph because I am riding low in the water and not on plane. Once on plane tho, I am running on about 3-4" of water and it does not matter if I am going 25 mph or 40 mph, the wakes are the same, just a few inches. The only time the wakes will get a little bigger at speed is when you make turns as one side of the boat will drop lower into the water, but there is still not much difference. The largest wakes from boats are produced between 10 mph and 20 mph. I never understood where people got the idea that the faster you go, the larger the wake. If that was true, wake boarders would be hauling butt. We all know that wake boarding boats create the largest wakes because that is what they are designed for. Next time you are on a lake with them, check out there speed. I will bet they are all running about 15 mph. If you were to put up a speed limit sign that actually reduced wakes, it would have to read something likes this. Speed Limit 0-10mph or 25mph+ [signature] Re: [prvrt] Glendale Bass Fishing Tournament May 1st - bassattttic - 04-24-2010 very well put prvrt. Although my question is how does a big wake or even a fast punch out of the hole make a big affect on the lake? not trying to cause a big argument on this just a little curious. But as prvrt put it going fast in a bass boat makes a world of difference on the wake trust me i bass fish and i wake board and your going 19 to 21 mph on a wakeboard boat which makes one hell of a wake, and there is not half the wake on a bass boat when its all trimmed out.
