went to the weber just above Morgan for about two hours I didn't get skunked LOL I caught one brown he went about 5 in. is the fishing better up higher? i tried several caddis flies and bwo's maybe i was using the wrong flies or maybe i just suck lol

get above echo, try using more nymphs until you see bugs flying and then go BWO only, or maybe with a tiny dropper

I agree above Echo is good right now, but I fished Taggarts exit sun and Mon and did pretty good , caught mostly whitefish with a few browns mixed in, i used hare's ear, sow bug, san juan worm, and a irish spring ( green sow bug looking thing)

went to the Weber 4- 24 got skunked! the fish weren't feeding on the surface so i put on about everything i had that was sub surface grey brown black zebra the works with no luck but the water is clear between echo and rockport res.

maybe your presentation is off, how do you rig, how long of a leader, how many weights , wheres your strike indicator, etc...the bite is lite I'd almost bet you missed a few bites and didnt know it.

I hit the Weber on 4/24/10 at Taggart, 8 Browns and countless Whities, water is pretty stained, i'm sure it's just from the recent storms, they can't be letting any water out of Echo yet (can they?), I bet it clears again before the run off starts.

I have a 9 ft leader i tie a fly to that and then a 12" piece of tippet with a fly tied to that all my knots are tied threw the eye of hooks (cinch knots) i put 1 extremely small sinker above the last fly at the end of the line and my strike indicator is about 2 ft above the first fly
any advice would surely be appreciated

You need to get heavier, and the stike is really light. I use usually two siize "BB" or one "BB" and one "B" lead split shots when nymphing on the Weber. I was also there above Taggart on the 24th. Ended up with 8-10 nice browns and I believe it was around 4 whitefish.
Most of them were on a hares ear or a golden stone. My second fly I used either a sow bug or a zebra nymph.

I like to put my strike indicator about 8-12 inches from my actual fly line. Just past the 40lb but section. I use around a 9 ft leader, depending on the day...
I put the weights about 8-12 inches in front of my first fly, where I have a double surgons knot going from 3x to 4x. My second fly I tie off the back of the first flies hook and it is usually 8-12 inches behind.

try makeing your tippit about 18in long with a heaver weight between ur first and second fly and put a weight about 10-12 inches above ur first and set ur strike inducater 12-18 inches above that and always have sow bugs with u. they kill on the weber.im goin this saturday if u want to join me ill show you a few things. the fish are in the runs, short and long ones. i was there 2 sat ago and landed a 24in brown in a short run

I rig like this too, and it seems to work quite well, you gotta remember those fish are feeding near the bottom so you gotta be long enough and heavy enough to get down to them.

Yes, the fish are right near the bottom, they like to stay out of the current going over them and get the easy meals coming through. It is the high stick nymphing method taught by some of the local fly shops....it does work to catch plenty of fish

Honestly, I have read about both methods but could not tell you the difference off the top of my head between the two. I was taught that the nymphing method I am using is under the high stick method, but I could be wrong... All I know is that it catches fish and I like it. [cool]

The way I get it is Czech is allot of weight (in the fly) fast deep water, and you are basically pulling the fly trough.
High sticking, you are just following the fly letting it go at it's own speed.
Does that make sense?
