Cat scratch fever - idahoron - 04-10-2010

Today I am getting home LATE. It is 11:00 and I am planning on going again tomorrow. Oh well.
I went to Lake Lowell today. I have been doing some reading up on Lowell and had some what of a plan.
Plan #1 Pray that something bites!!!!!
#2 if that doesn’t work do #1 again!!
Well I got there about 11:00 am and took my FC4 today. The water was 48 degrees and I had a wind that was just enough to stink a little. After fighting with some weeds after the launch I think are called smart weeds. I figured I better break out the slip floats. I hooked up with the first cat about noon. This fish was 24" long and slim. I think he had been on a diet all winter. He hit my slip float worm. A little later I got another hit on a slip float worm. This fish was also a 24" fish Again this fish was also thin. Both fish were on my Ultra Light. I love that thing for catfishing!
I never got a bite on cut bait. I was using some old frozen trout I got from work. I looked on the box and they are over a year old. Maybe that was the problem, I got to get some fresh bait.
Then I got a visit from the local water Police. Everything was good except I forgot to grab my whistle from the Pontoon pocket. He understood and said I might get another so I don’t forget. He was cool about it. I was about done for the day any way. I wanted to stop and see My Aunt and Uncle before I left Nampa. My Aunt started to poke pie and other goodies down my throat until I had to say I had to go. It was a good day. Ron

That first cat seems to be a nice fish. Nice ob.

Concerning the whistle, do we need to have it out visible or can it be in a pocket in our vest or pfd?

Now I want to be fecetious here. How about going to Harbor freight and getting one of their aooga horns and mounting it? Now that would be a nice way to get the attention of the power squadron.[:p]

I am kind of surprised that we don't have to display "slow moving vehicle" triangles as well. --- That way the power squad could see their slalom course better. [sly]
