Added a little more to the new toy - redfrog - 04-08-2010 I wanted to get this done last week but the weather did not see it that way. I plan on using a trolling motor around a few places so I needed to get a battery mounted. I had to move the rod holders I had already put on out of the way. To mount the box for the battery, I had to flip the the seat frame over so the rails you bolt the seat to were on top. Then I had to put the seat as far forward as I could. It gave just enough room to fit the battery box between the seat and the rear rack. I did not want to put the extra pounds to the rear of the pontoon by putting the battery in the rack. I then drilled two holes in the box the would line up with the seat mounting rails and used a couple of 1/4 inch bolts to hold it on. I also ran two peices of 1/2 EMT conduit under the seat next to the mounting rails and out the back just past the battery box to give it some added support. I then reworked the pole holders and came up with something else for now. I will most likely change that agian once I get it on the water and see how easy it is to move around the pontoon to get at poles and other things. Next I remounted my transducer and got a little bit better fit with it. I also made it easy to lift it up out of the water so I don't have the extra drag Just in case I need to get off the water quikly. I had alread made it to the DMV to do the licensing thing. I made a trip to a local hardware store and was able to get some scrap pieces of plexy glass. I painted one side of it black with spay paint and stuck on some white numbers and letters. Painting the back of the glass black really made the letters stand out. Now I just need to get it back in the water and give it a go. Weather looks like it should be great for the next few days.[fishin] [signature] Re: [redfrog] Added a little more to the new toy - albinotrout - 04-08-2010 Lookin good! In that first picture, it looked a little too close. Like the seat could be opened all the way from hitting it. I took it out the other night and it nice and level in the water. Everything worked great. The only thing that would have made it better would have been the walleye eating my jig.[fishin] [signature] |
