The chinook fishery was excellent last summer. On Aug 5, my partner and I stopped counting after (100) salmon. We were casting 1-2 oz Crippled Herring and Kandlefish metal jigs just off the kelp in Freshwater Bay in 45 ft of water. Most were fin clipped hatchery fish up to almost 35 lbs. The Port Angeles harbor has been closed to salmon fishing for the past four years. The crabbing and shrimping remain very good.
