kick belly progress - sumo - 03-02-2010

howdy. i first posted drawings of this boat in the crazy winter project thread. I got an opportunity to get some pics on my computer and thought that someone may want to see how it was coming along. it is about 80 percent done, all that is left is to finish weld everything add foam, seat padding and paint, then i can start adding rod holders and other fun stuff. let me know what you thing.

Looks interesting. You will have to have pics showing how well it floats and works for you.

I understand Dave Scadden is coming out with a frameless version of that frame.

WOW [shocked]
That looks like a lot of work. Im sure that is a "labor of love".
Sure looks very interesting. I would love to see the finished product.
In my book, anyone that is able to make something
like that with his/her hands deserves a lot of respect.
Good job.

thank you. i have been working on it for about 2 or 3 weeks after work and on weekends as the weather permits. i hope to be almost finished by this weekend, maybe not painted, cant decide what color , leaning toward camo or i may try to find some manufactured bags and match the color to the bags.

Re: [flygoddess] kick belly progress - sumo - 03-03-2010

considering what it is . i wouldn't think that it any more bulky than anything comparable. the full cage around the foam is not for strength as much as it is protection for the foam and to allow the boat to fold . the bottom pins also are removable and the boat will come apart in two sections this way it could be hauled in a small car. i only need it to fold in half in order to be carried on the racks of my atv witch is what i designed it for. i don't think that she will be the most nimble ballerina on the dance floor but she should serve her purpose.

right you are. Considering I prefer to pack mine assembled and inflated.
No harm in tended, can't wait to see it finished.

WOW, look at that !!! You sure put a lot of work
into it .
Military heavy duty stile. Looks great. I really like the way
it fold in half and goes on your ATV.
Nice.

Looks really good. So how does it work with you sitting in it?[cool] I like your design for transport.

I am about 330 and it holds me out of the water well, i am sure that it would handle someone of normal size very well
