ODC 616 Kick boat - aztoon23 - 02-12-2010

I cant really tell you why, but I just bought an ODC 616 kickboat. I have an ODC sport, ODC 420 and thought since the 616 was smaller than the sport it might be fun to try.

I figure at 50 bucks how could I pass it up. So if there is anyone out there that has one or had one and can give me any info on it I would appreciate it. The weather dude says it is going to be in the low 70s next wednesday and thursday and I think I will venture out into the water and hopefully have a report on how the ODC 616 performed.

P.S. my wife wants to know if there is a float tubers anonymous group, I guess its for some type of intervention, I think shes on to me. [Image: bobwink.gif]

If it is an addiction, tell her females can get it as well, my hubby and myself had 5 each last summer.

[cool][#0000ff]Time to join the 12 cast program.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Maybe "Floataholics Anonymous". Then, when you get that terrible urge to hit the water, and you just can't do it, you call up a fellow member and go get drunk together.[/#0000ff]

I have one of these, also cause I couldn't pass up the price. If you check the archives under mine name you should be able to locate some evaluations. It is very light and fun and comfortable, but the pontoon construction is not great. Travels well as it uses a standard low cost boat seat which can be bought on location and doesn't have to be packed.

Re: [aztoon23] ODC 616 Kick boat - Zabber - 08-21-2011

Hey,

I know that this is an old thread but I thought I'd reply anyways. I bought one of these a couple of years ago as my first floater, for $100, and am fairly happy with it.

One modification that I made is that I've lowered the seat so that it sits closer to the water. I found that at 215lbs, with the 'toons fully inflated, it sat too high up for me. I prefer being closer to the water so that I can make fuller leg extensions before the fins come out of the water (this allows me to get more thrust out of each kick, and is more peaceful in the evenings when the water is calm).

How I did this was buy sticking a couple of pieces of rounded decking material (I think a piece of 2x4 would do the same thing), between the seat bars and frame bars, drilling holes in the wood, and inserting a 4inch(?) bolt + wing nut. Attached is a VERY ROUGH schematic.

Now I'm as close to the water as I can get while keeping my bum dry Smile

Great little 'toon 4 the price, after a small modification.

As mentioned, it's not very durable. I got my first leak the other day, after about 10 uses. 2 small cuts -- from who knows what -- in the toon. Cheap patch job fixed it right up though Smile
