Mud Lake Cats - unobass1 - 12-20-2009 I am just wondering if anyone has caught any catfish at mud lake in the last 2 or 3 years. I'm thinking about going ice fishing out there and haven't been in a while. I usually target perch out there but would love to try for cats if there is a reasonable chance of catching any. Usually on the move and hard to bait fish for during the daytime. What was the bait that worked so well. I'm assuming when you say net you mean on a rod and reel? Thanks for the report and any help you can give on catching them! [signature] Re: [MMDon] Mud Lake Cats - idahoron - 12-20-2009 If it were me I would use trout as cut bait. [signature] Re: [Everet14] Mud Lake Cats - prvrt - 12-20-2009 Got my hopes up there were actually fish in Mud Lake. I have only heard of one person when I was at Sportsman's saying they have caught anything there this winter. [signature] Re: [prvrt] Mud Lake Cats - MMDon - 12-20-2009 The bottom was a barren wasteland when I was there. We never had a bite. ![]() [signature] Re: [prvrt] Mud Lake Cats - Everet14 - 12-20-2009 Sorry[sly] Ya I haven't heard anything good from there either. [signature] Re: [Everet14] Mud Lake Cats - mudsucker - 12-20-2009 I told my wife about your first post and she said you're lying. Turns out, she was right. You had me going for a bit. [signature] Re: [mudsucker] Mud Lake Cats - unobass1 - 12-20-2009 Thanks for everyones input. I think I might still know a good place for perch at Mud Lake that people don't fish too often. [img][url "http:///"][/url]"]http://www.bigfishtackle.com/...m/confused.gif[/img][/url] . . . or are we talking morts?[/quote] Here in Idaho you can use a fresh caught trout or any other game fish for bait. That fish has to be included in your possession limit. And you also have to comply with the take on that body of water. So lets say you catch a trout in a area that has no harvest it is catch and release only. You can NOT use a wild trout for cut bait. You can bring one with you though (mort). Ron[/quote] I knew there was a reason we bought morts for sturgies in the canyon. We go through a lot more than 6 per person so that would make sense. Our problem is we can't get them on this side of the state. Twin Falls is the closest supply of Morts that I know of unless Sportsman's in I.F. started carrying them. I know the one in Twin has them. I generally save up my chubs and whities for bait unless I know I'll be over in your neck of the woods for a couple of days. Hard to get bait at 4 am. ![]() [signature] |
