Welcome to the forum. I am jealous that you are going to get there before me.

As in all things experience is the most important thing when ice fishing.

I would recommend using 6-10lb test in the thinnest diameter possible at Chesterfield. I would use paddle bugs in green or white tipped with a piece of night crawler. Drill your holes early and by early I mean at first light. I would use spring bobbers to detect the really light bites. Some of the Chesterfield fish hit like a freight train, but others just tap the jigs.

I usually set up in around 15' of water at Chesterfield.

Things change every year so this is just an example of how I would start.

I was there yesterday, and I've learned that it pays to listen to windriver. That advice is right on.
We were fishing about a foot to maybee a foot and a half up from the bottom. I got fish while actively jigging and dead sticking it, though as the morning progressed jigging seemed more productive.
I was going to make a new thread for my report, but since I'm already here I'll just keep typing.
We got there and started fishing late at about 8:30 (my stupid alarm didn't go off) and this turned out to be a big mistake, becasue the first half hour were amazing. I have a hand auger so it takes a minute or two to drill the holes. i drilled the first one and started fishing, and by the time my buddy struck water on his hole, I had pulled up a 19 incher and two twenty inchers! So i think if we would have got there an hour earlier like we planned it would have been an amazing hour [mad][pirate]. all in all it was a blast of a trip. i ended up icing 18 the biggest being this one -

at just over 21 inches. Good luck, and have fun!

Very nice fish. Did it matter what you tipped your jigs with? Man it is killing me to not be able to go until closer to Christmas.

Great job and nice fish! I agree on getting there earlier; I had the same thought. Still had a great day though.

I looked for your car (4 runner right?) but I didn't see it, you must have been further up the lake from me.
