A congressional study team has released a unique draft report, "The San Gabriel Watershed and Mountains Special Resource Study," with a range of visionary solutions for the challenges that face the San Gabriels. The best of these plans – Alternative Concept C – would designate much of the Angeles National Forest and adjacent public parks and opens space as the San Gabriel Mountains National Recreation Area (NRA). NRA designation will help secure more federal resources to better manage these beautiful mountains and its rivers.
