lake mead is it worth it? - Pondking - 10-29-2009

My brother is in town for halloween. I wanted to take him to mead with in the next couple days. We will be fishing from shore. I was wondering would it even be worth it as far as fish and wind go, I was thinking 33 hole or the pier by hemenway? I was just gonna fish the bottom with worms, stinkbait, old chicken mabye powerbait in hopes of catching a few catfish. What do you guys think would it be worth it?

Only place I would fish off shore these days at mead is at stewarts point in the overton arm of lake mead. I never have a bad trip up there. I just throw out some chovies and you can catch stripers, cats, carp.

Last week I went for few hours and caught 6 nice stripers on top water from 3:30pm - 5:30pm:

they were chasing shad all day long...

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Vlad702 were you boating it or on the shoreline? Could I just take government wash road down park my car, then hike down to shore? Is the road suitable for sm cars I dont have 4x4 thanks[fishin]

i was shore fishing, you may need to walk some if you don't have 4x4, maybe 1/2-1mile or so

Lake Mead is a great place to fish, I caught many catfish and striper with anchovies. Great for fishing on boat or shore, here's a good direction to go...from boulder hwy, once you enter the visitors gate make the 1st right, go all the way straight down and before you hit the marina docks make a left onto a dirt road, good place to fish, it's called boulder beach.
