i was wondering if anyone could tell me anything on the 525. i am probably going to buy one soon and want to know what i will be getting myself into

any info appreciated like minimum casting weights or max weights, or any personel experiences

by the way will be using for striped bass blues fluke etc in Narragansett bay and surrounding area in Rhode island

It's a good reel, but you'd be better off getting a speedmaster instead of that. The speedmaster is going to do the same thing, for about 40 bucks cheaper.

Also, note that the reel you've selected does not have a level wind. That could be an issue for you if you're not use to it.

If you needed a level wind, which I would strongly recommend, go with a Penn 320 GT or something along those lines. They are about 100.00 bucks, and are worth every penny.

i am not sure if this matters but it will be from shore and the reason i like this is i might be able to bet some good distance, but i might also check out the speed master.
