Nauticman, Below Chickamauga Dam, Bass, Catfish, 9/17/09, FirstLight - FishNews - 09-19-2009
My son and I fished the current break between the dam and the railroad bridge for the last 2 hours before dark with 3.5 in. Gitzits (smoke/glitter and green/grey, 1/4 and 3/16 oz.). We caught 3 largemouths (one keeper), a spot and an 11.5 lb. blue cat. The last half hour we drifted from the R/R bridge down to Riverpark casting carolina rigged spoons and heavy (1 and 1.5 oz. spinner baits) -- nada.<br /><br />Earlier, I fished rip-rap and barge tie-ups for a couple of hours and caught 4 spots, none to brag about (also with Gitzits).<br /><br />The current was rippin&#39; (45K cfs). We spent part of the time sitting in the car waiting out a downpour. It got noticably cooler after the rain.<br /><br />All fish were released.
