drumking, chickamauga, Crappie and bass, 9/04/09, Hal - FishNews - 09-06-2009 Hal and I fished from about 7:30 until 1:50 for crappie. We landed 48 crappie and tried our best to catch 2 more before quitting, but the crappie quit before we did. emoBig BG shads were the lures of choice and crystal shad was the best color. We also landed about 5 bass including 2 smallies that weren't too big. One little 1/2 pound smallie came out of the water at least 3 or 4 feet on the initial jump. I'd like to catch that little dude in about 5 more years. The crappie were suspended about 5 feet down over deep water. We fished docks and some vertical structure.

I had one really nice spot that was almost my 2nd TARP spot. Lacked 1/4 inch being 18" long. It had a very large gizzard shad down it throat and the fish really didn't fight very much. I was surprised at how little it did fight. The 1 lb smallie that I caught put up a much bigger struggle.

I've had a great week of fishing and am really tired right now. Don't anyone call me to go fishing for a couple of days. emoBig I got the yard mowed a while ago, and I'm going to the ballgame with Fat Albert and tomorrow, I'm putting my feet up on the couch with a glass of tea and watch ballgames until I fall asleep. The way I feel right now, that won't be very long. emoBig emoGeezer
