Yep that's the one. Thanks. How big do they usually get? Me and my friends fish this small creek and that's the biggest one we've caught.

Wikipedia says 12" and 2#'s, but maybe the recorded info is not current. Have you checked your states Fish & Game reocrds? Maybe you have a winner[

The Utah state record is 2# 1 oz. They are hearty little fish. I usually only catch them under 5" long.

yah jaredk's pic is a green sunfish but lunkerhunters fish i believe is a pumpkin seed. I could be wrong but that is what it looks like to me lol[:p]

Notice the Pumpkinseed is shaped more like a bluegill(short and round) and the Green Sunfish is shaped more like a bass(long and slender). That is a definitive way to tell.[cool]

Just to add to the confusion, These sunfish family all will readily cross breed and there are many instances of.resulting hybrids Illinoisgiller
