drumking, chickamauga, crappie, 8/26/09, Fat Albert - FishNews - 08-27-2009 There we wuz! Right in the middle of Chickamauga lake, about 1 hour too late, but blame that on me. Fat Albert met me at the house around 8:00 and after we chatted a while, we decided to go fishing for crappie. He told me right off the bat that he didn't care if we caught any fish or not, so we didn't try really hard. We did a little exploring downriver and caught a few fish, then decided to run back upriver and fish for a while. We caught a few nice crappie, but he didn't want any and I didn't want to clean any today, so we released all fish. We would have had a really good mess of filleting sized crappie if we had kept any. A couple of yellow bass and 1 little bluegill finished off our morning. FA did have a nice fish on for about 5 seconds before it broke his golden stren cheap line. I had to give him a lecture on Mr Crappie line after that. We both wished that we could have seen that fish. I suspect that it was a really good bass from the location that we were fishing.

Water temps were around 83 degrees and a slight north wind and lots of current in the river. I can't wait until the water gets back into the low 70's again. This is the first time that I have taken anyone out since the 17th of the month. Vacations and stuff sort of get in the way of fishing sometimes. emoBig The best lure today was the white/chartreuse 2" slab slayer on 1/16oz jigheads. Al got his limit of yellow bass, limited on bluegill and caught over his limit of crappie. We both had a glorious time. emoBig emoGeezer
