vintage boo rod ? - peter805 - 08-21-2009 I got this fly rod (free) and I have no idea what it is or what WT or anything. It looks like a 10 footer and it comes with two tips. One is in very bad shape but the other one is ok. Any ideas anyone, please. Peter [signature] Re: [peter805] vintage boo rod ? - macfly55 - 08-21-2009 peter.. would you mind posting what is etched on the rod? also.. is there any other information on the rod itself.. lenght... wt.. etc.. that would help DR and FG a lot.. Would venture to say that it is a 6 wt rod. Sorry to say that it doesn't really have much value.A good steaming with a weight on the end might straighten it out a bit. Heck if it was mine I'd fish it or hang it in my den. [/size][/#008000][/font] [signature] Re: [peter805] vintage boo rod ? - flygoddess - 08-21-2009 Like Dry Rod said, it is an H.I. Not worth $. It being a LONG rod, I am guessing 8 weight, but it could be 6. Wet fly rod, very heavy and noodlie. I have one on the wall. [signature] Re: [peter805] vintage boo rod ? - macfly55 - 08-21-2009 well.. now we know.. but.. even if it not high value in the world of boos.. but if I were you Id put a reel and line on it and give it a whirl.. cant hurt.. [ ![]() MacFly [cool] [signature] Re: [peter805] vintage boo rod ? - peter805 - 08-21-2009 Thank you everyone for your replay. Now I know[ ![]() I dont think that I will be fishing with it because its missing couple of guides and its just to "dry". But I will get a fly reel for it with line (ebay) and display it on the wall or in my camper. Once again, thank you. The biggest trout about that size I caught was a bow at lake Crowley. I cant wait to get big brown like that one day[ ![]() Peter [signature] Re: [peter805] vintage boo rod ? - Dryrod - 08-23-2009 [font "Comic Sans MS"][#008000][size 3] ![]() [signature] Re: [Dryrod] vintage boo rod ? - peter805 - 08-23-2009 Cool. I will try to FF there later this year as well. I need to do some home work before I go there. I understand that it can be good fishing sometimes. Lots of pan size fish but there are some decent one's to be had too. Seems like most of the folks fish by the bridge but that can be a mad house. Last fall I worked my way up there and couldn't find a place to park - if that tells you anything. I like wading spots like these: [/size][/#008000][/font] Nice, thank you for the pictures and stuff. I understand that there is going to be a lot of people at every spot that is EAZY to get to. I like to walk or hike away a little to get away from all of that madnes. As a sayd before, most bank tanglers dont want to walk more then 50 feet from ther car[ ![]() So, if i do a little of homework first and then hike for a little .......................it sould be ok. I cant wait to go. Peter [center] [center] [center] [/quote] [signature] |
