BackOnTheWater, Chick, Bass, 08/16/09, Me, myself, and Irene - FishNews - 08-18-2009 <br /> I put in about 6 AM to see if I could find any fish before they went down for the morning. I managed a 12" spot on a popper and a 16" LM on a deep CB, but fishing was slower than I had hoped.<br /> I got another keeper on the CB and another on a Crig, and had a couple of hit/ misses. I'm looking at 9:30 and am bummed because the solunar tables said 9 was the best time, but I still had another hour before "the point of no return" on my TM batteries.<br /> I got to one spot (no, 2jigs, none of "YOURS" emoRolleyes ) and caught one just over 3# on a Crig craw (chart/pepper). I threw right back in and another at least 3 got off as I was reaching down to lip him. Threw back...got another 3-1/4 pounder, and then had another 3+ get off at the boat. Dang! emoBang <br /> OK, it's about 10...the tables were an hour off, I guess emoBig . I threw back at "the spot" and got hit as soon as the craw hit the bottom. I set the hook, and thought I had nailed a stump until it tried to swim away. My rod bent as far as it would go and my drag sang. I pulled back to try and slow him down and "zing", my rodtip went vertical...he had pulled off. I had gotten all of the "little" ones out of the way, but I missed the biggun. You know how it is, but that fish felt 5# or better, for what THAT'S worth.<br /> That bite made the day, even though it was just a few seconds of extreme fear! emoUp <br /> I caught 8, lost 2, and missed 2 hits. Most on the Crig craw on a 15 to 22 ft drop w/ cover.
