Horse shoe Lake Greyling won - dustponds10 - 08-16-2009 Well I didnt get any greyling but I caught some nice rainbows. It was pretty fun going to a new place up in the hills. ANy one know what I could throw at the greyling to catch a few. I dont know why I want to catch some so bad but I do. Any help would be great. I would guess that they are going to be deep because the lake is a bit warm, but i could be mistaken. ANy one know? Go early in the morning before the wind comes up. The fishing is awesome and the rainbows are the hardest fighting for their size I have found anywhere. I might hit Horse shoe again but I am getting antsy. [signature] Re: [dustponds10] Horse shoe Lake Greyling won - windriver - 08-17-2009 It is inbetween Norris and Canyon Village. I guess it takes me about 45min early in the morning if I already have my licensces and permits. I use small leeches and nymphs. Prince Nymphs, pheasant tails, etc... work just fine. I don't think they are very picky. If the wind isn't blowing too hard you can catch them on top with a parachute adams or a small humpy. Grebe lake is awesome [signature] Re: [dustponds10] Horse shoe Lake Greyling won - prvrt - 08-18-2009 I was hoping to get up there and hook a few Grayling myself, but it sounds a little slow. I am planning a trip in September to Copper Basin so I may get lucky and hook a few up there along with some Goldens. If everything goes right, that will knock off 2 more fish from my list of fish to catch for this year. That would only leave me 1 fish left and that may not happen unless I get back down the Preston way. We went to the Uintas Saturday and even standing on shore casting the best we could into a cold face wind, I cast FOUR TIMES. First one a Tiger Trout, second a Brookie, third a Rainbow and four.......A GRAYLING! ![]() Honest to GAWD...it was the Craziest thing that has ever happened to me. Four cast - four different species! As far as fight....close on the Tiger trout and the Grayling, but I think the Grayling had just a little more. [signature] Re: [flygoddess] Horse shoe Lake Greyling won - prvrt - 08-18-2009 Now that is what I call a variety of fish. Nice. I have thought about getting a Utah license, but I do not get down that way very often to make it worth it. I think I will add a Tiger Trout to the list next year along with the Tiger Muskie that I probably will not catch this year. [signature] Re: [iliketofish] Horse shoe Lake Greyling won - flygoddess - 08-19-2009 Only maybe 8" as they were all around that except I did land a 16" rainbow, but very skinny. [signature] |
