Hook1, CHICK, BASS WHITES CRAPPIE, 7/27, SOLO - FishNews - 07-30-2009 Played hookie today because I didn't get to fish any over the weekend and wanted to try a new bait. Bought a Strike King sexy swimmer and wanted to assure myself that I wasn't a total idiot for paying $15 for it. Caught some nice schoolers on it early and also a Strike King caffeine shad. Water temps started off at 79 deg. and when I left it was 84 deg. After the shallow bight ended I stopped at a couple of humps I fish regularly that drop to deep water and tried a jiggin spoon for the first time. I marked a huge cloud of bait on the sonar and fish arches EVERYWHERE! It was some of the easiest fishing I've had all year. As soon as my spoon got down there I made one or two jigging motions and fish on every time almost. I caught largemouth and spotted bass, white bass and stripes and some really big white crappies. I think I'll give this spoon thing some more tries. I can't think of a better way to burn a vacation day than this. I guess when all the dofferent species are eating the same bait you get this. Jason told me you can catch alot on a spoon, just never really tried until today. FUN emoThumbsup |
