salmon chinook fishing - tech29 - 07-07-2009

I made it up to salmon yesterday and all I can say is WOW!! Those chinook are big and heavy compared to the little steelies. Got up there above challis around 5:30 a.m and began fishing with some friends. Managed to hook seven by 8:00. I had only one in the cooler when the fishing slowed down to a crawl. Finally around 5:00 p.m I headed for home. On the way out I stopped at another hole since I still had one fish to tag. Four casts later I hooked into the second and last fish of the day. I'm definately going back really soon!! Sorry about the picture size, I haven't quite figured out how to downsize them being the computer failure I am!

Thanks for the report. Was wondering what happened w/ the salmon run since there was a lot of talk leading up to it then it seemed to just shut off. Glad some people are getting out and having some luck w/ it!

Nice looking fish. I need to get up there and try for a few. On the picture sizing, just open your pictures in Microsoft Paint and them save with a new name. That will shrink them down to a managable size.

Good job on the salmon. I hope the run continues from year to year so I can get up there some time.

I've heard that they hit really soft when drift fishing, but I've never drift fished for them. The ones that I caught on monday was on a bobber/jig combo and on lure. The one on the lure felt like a rock until I tried to jerk it loose.

So that's what a king looks like, huh?[:/] Right on man! You found some fish, I'm glad to hear it! I spent 5 days last week fishing from Pahsimeroi to Torrey's Hole and I didn't get a bite! I guess I was at the wrong places at the wrong times? Good luck to you guys that are going later, hope you get into fish like tech29!
