Sorry I haven't done my own Chris. My favorite nets are from a co. no longer in business. Tropical Lightning Creations. Beautiful with shallow rubberized C&R netting.
I don't see why you couldn't dip a net....

Might be easier to just buy it rubberized..I know that Sports Authority and Cal Ranch both have wooden trout nets (rubberized) for 15 to 20 bucks...might be a messy job do'n it yourself.

I agree with the others just buy a rubberized one. There are several types of catch and release friendly nets that are shallow and use softer materials.
