UT State Boating Laws - Catatafish - 06-06-2009 This isn't a fishing report, per say, but I've noticed a lot of conversations relating to speed boats, waterskiers, jet ski's, etc. and fisherman...especially as it relates to being buzzed by the above while in a boat or float tube, or on the shore. In case anyone is interested, http://static.stateparks.utah.gov/docs/utahboatinglaw.pdf The good stuff starts on page 34. I asked this question in another post, and am hoping that someone with experience in dealing with the rangers / wardens can answer. What is needed in order to call something like this in? Just a description of the boat and a hull #? Pictures / video? Post them on BFT so we can all see them. I did that a while back and had a response from a DNR officer with info on where to forward them to with in a minute of making the post. If they can ID the boat they can sent the owner a warning. Lots of other things you can do like cast big things at them but that just makes you hang it out there for trouble. I think you can sign a complaint against the boat owner also as long as you can show evidence for your case that would convince a judge that a law was broken. Good read on the boating laws on that link. [signature] |
