TAzGa, Chick - Chigger City, Bass - Crappie, 05/31/2009, Kaizer0306 - FishNews - 06-01-2009 Wasn't planning on fishing today... been really sick for the past 3 days emoVomit ... still sick... sore throat, headache, coughing me head off.... but, Kaizer talked me into going this morning. I thought, what the heck, maybe being outdoors will do me some good. emoRolleyes <br />We hit the water around 7:00 out of HBSP, ran to a hump and fished the 12-13 break with cranks... didn't get a hookup. moved to a 12' flat and started with cranks... Kaizer hooked one and it was game on emoDance , his first fish on a crankbait and it was ripping drag. It never broke water until it got close to the boat. it was a brown fish... sorta ... a Flathead Catfish that was somewhere over 5lbs... emoLaugh no luck after that, so we moved on to some rocky points, caught 1 fish... about a 14" LM. headed out to check another waypoint, and on the way, marked some fish in about 18' of water ... hmmmm... an new spot emoIdea ..stopped there for a few minutes, pulled out the carolina rig and caught 2 keepers on the first 2 throws emoTongue ... we fished there for a little while and caught several more, with couple more keepers.... nothing big, 2lb'ish. Moved to some different water, fishing points, and into the back of a cove... tried CR, spinnerbaits, CB.... notta... pulled on a dock and decided to try for some crappie... we fished some docks in 12-14 feet or water, and caught crappie on every dock we found. Wound up catching 51 today, with 19 keepers emoBig using shad assassins... all fish turned loose to fight another day. Enjoyed the time out with my son, and hope to do this more emoTongue <br />We started running, to go to a different part of the lake and the waves, wind, boats, chiggers... everything was beating me to death... so, we just turned around and headed back to the ramp... took a couple of showers on the way ... lol<br />... made it home, took a real shower, still sick, and headed to bed emoBang <br /><br />Didn't take any pics of the Bass or catfish.... but did get a couple of the 12"+ crappie we caught... had 4 this size today emoTongue
