Carp anyone? - ironrod - 05-10-2009

[cool] Decided to hit Blackfoot Reservoir today...glad I did!!! Went to one of my favorite spots but didn't see any activity in the water. I headed out in my waders with 9wt in hand. After getting out their around waist deep I saw the first of many "orka launches"[Wink]! If you've never seen these guys go nuts during the spawn...you gotta do it! Today the trick was ssssllllllooooowwwww retrieve and once in a while due a few short "pops". In two hrs I landed 7 fish...that's due to being by myself with no net! Man I love those Rocky Mountain Bone Fish!!!

I took a couple of pics with my phone...the large one was around 30+lbs! One shot of a smaller but still fiesty one and one shot of my 9wt getting worked over.[Image: scaredworried.gif]

Nice looking fish. I'd have rather been pulling out hefty carp than laying in bed all day sick. It was a beautiful day to fish today. Good report.

There were a few people fishing by the dam but I only watched them for 10 min. Nothing caught while I was there. I also saw a couple of jon boats trolling but again didn't see anything caught?

[:/] I'm glad I went to the North Fork instead, NOT!!! The water was about a foot higher than last week and the water was off color too. Good hatches but no fish on top this week. I went South on Sunday with my wife, we only made it as far as Bone, she likes the Windmills more than Carp and when she found out we had 20+ miles of dirt road still to go we turned around and fired up the grill at home. Can't say I blame her it was Mother's Day, tried to slip one past her but no luck! Remember the Carp Classic this weekend!!!

[Smile] Went to Blackfoot Res last night, we did OK! Everyone got into a nice one. Their was little or no wind. Not alot of fish comming out and going airborne, but we had a great time.

[mad] Sorry about the pix size in the last post, trying to get it figured out! Maybe too small now, still working on it

Thanks for trying on the picture size. If you reduce the size using microsoft paint. 30-40% of the original (8-10 mega pixel) is about right.

Thanks
