SARDINES - dhoneh - 04-24-2009

In a recent post a member said he was using Sardines to fish with. Will anyone tell me how they put them on a hook?
I cannot figure it out, frozen they split or taught they fall apart. Any help will be appreciated

Frozen. they have special bait hooks that you thread thru them. I have just used reguilar bait hooks and they stay on real good.

Cut the bait into 4 pieces-

rig the head like so-

Rig the cross sections whole, like so-

Leave the hook point exposed

I have noticed some stores carry anchovies and other sardines and some both. Do the strippers care in between the two?

Chum with anchovies, fish with sardines- sardines tend to be oilier and bloodier, and that sets your bait apart from your chum slick.

Yes there is[cool]. There is the Sunset market on Lake Mead just past the Lake Mead lounge same side of the road. Also the Cheveron gas station next to off shore boat store same side of the road. And there is Laker Plaza right after you pass Lake Las Vegas. Also when the weather gets warm I keep my bait on a little dry ice. Keep what you want frozen underneath the dry ice and keep what your using on the top. Dry ice has kept my bait frozen while out on the lake for days.

Good luck!!
