Nock Loops - tlspyder13 - 03-23-2009

Looks like almost everyone uses a nock loop these days. Now that I finally have some arrows and a stop I'm finding out my old release doesn't work well with the loop. Tried some of the new releases but haven't found one I like. Can't decide if I should just lose the loop or go through the learning curve of a new release. Eighteen years of not shooting and the old one still goes to the same spot everytime.

Any sugestions?

What kind of old release are you using? When I went to a loop I ditched my caliper style releases and went to the Short and Sweet by Trufire. It just has a hook sticking out so it is real simple to catch the loop and draw. It is also a shorter head so the bow string is closer to your hand than it would be with a caliper style. The loops are more accurate because it will eliminate and torque you could get from the other styles off the string. It wont wear out your serving either.

You'd probably be surprised how quickly you'd adjust to a new release! I used to switch several times, but for the last 5 years I've used a Fletch Hunter, and I love it. The short n sweet is a very nice release too, well there are lots of really nice releases out now. I'd suggest not using a caliper style and using something a little more advance. Find something comfortable and you'll adjust to it after 50 arrows. However new releases are not cheap and i'd recommend spend atleast 60 bucks or more for a long lasting dependable release.

I've never used one, probably never will. I'm satisfied with my current set up.

The D-Loop will either lengthen or shorten your draw length about a half inch so if that is no concern, worry about it. I think that it puts less strain on you bow string when you use one. The release can sometimes ware it down a bit.
Most of the new bows you can "Fine Tune" the draw length to your exact preference, so there's really no need for one. I like having one because I'm used to it, but it's really just up to you. Whatever you feel comfortable with is the way to go [Wink]
