Owyhee Mtns Opportunities? - Tatohead - 02-11-2009 Hey everyone, I lurk much more than I post, but hopefully that will change as Spring comes in. Anyways, it's February, and I am dreaming of many trips to the high country this year. From my experience, the Owyhees are the first range to open up in Spring. I live near the Owyhee Mountains, but am unaware of many trout fishing opportunities there. I have seens lots of fish in Jordan Creek, the stream that runs through Silver City, but there is a Mercury advisory for that drainage. Anybody know of trout opportunities in the Owyhees? THANKS ![]() [signature] Re: [Tatohead] Owyhee Mtns Opportunities? - iwantabuggy - 02-12-2009 Grasmere Res gets some Lahontan's put in it every year by F&G, but I have yet to catch one. Other than that, the only place I know of to catch trout in the Owyhees is on the DVIR. I personally haven't fished in any of them, but have read a couple articles describing that they at least stock the fish in there. Along the lines of the other response to your post, it's probably better to wait a little while and hit either Billy Shaw or Mtn. View. I've also heard that Wildhorse Reservoir is worth checking out, it's a little further south past Duck Valley. Either way, best of luck with your search in the Owyhees. [signature] |
